Tony Gonzalez joined Rose & Kindel in 1998 and has more than twenty years of experience in Sacramento. He has represented a variety of clients in the financial services, telecommunications, transportation and environmental services sectors, as well as various local governments. Before Rose & Kindel, Tony served as Deputy Commissioner for Policy, Research and Special Projects, under Insurance Commissioner Chuck Quackenbush

Mr. Gonzalez directed policy development and communications, and was heavily involved in the department's initiative in seeking restitution for Holocaust victims whose insurance policies purchased during the Nazi era were denied by European insurance companies.

Previously, Mr. Gonzalez was director of the Assembly Republican Caucus, where he coordinated policy development and analysis for the members of the caucus. Under Assembly Speaker Curt Pringle in 1996, he undertook the task of rewriting the Assembly Rules and coordinated the bill work load of the standing committees.

Mr. Gonzalez was policy consultant for environmental policy for the Assembly Republican Caucus, where he analyzed legislation affecting water, forestry, endangered species, and other natural resource issues, as well as the California Environmental Quality Act, the California Clean Air Act and the California Integrated Waste Management Act.

Mr. Gonzalez has worked on dozens of political campaigns, including Peter Frusetta for Assembly in 1996, Brooks Firestone for Assembly in 1994, Curt Pringle for Assembly in 1990, Bruce Herschensohn for U.S. Senate in 1986 and the Reagan-Bush Campaign in 1984. He has worked for numerous non-profit research institutes and political campaigns.

Tony is a native Californian who earned his Masters in Political Philosophy from Claremont Graduate School and his B.A. from Claremont McKenna College.
